Aina Alegre, co-director of the Choreographic National Center of Grenoble, starts at BARD College her research work for her next creation, RODA. She will present her creative process.5:00 pm EDT/GMT-4
With RODA, Aina Alegre will celebrate adolescence as a festive form of revolt. She imagines eight dancers and five musicians sharing the stage, unfolding in a circular and continuous movement that embodies a group in flux, constantly forming and transforming before our eyes. The choreographer aims to evoke an adolescent state—not as an age group, but as a body seeking connection and a sense of future. Like parades and brass bands, the performers will move in a shared pulse, bringing forth, through dance and live music, a fleeting community. Driven by repetition, unisons, and variations, the choreography will explore the power of the collective and the urgent need to “be together” today. RODA—from the Latin rotāre, “to move in a circle”—thus affirms the vitality of a movement that continuously reinvents itself, moving forward without end.
Premiere on April 28 & 29, 2027 at MC2 : Maison de la culture de Grenoble (France).
