The Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities (HAC) is seeking creative, passionate, and engaged student media fellows to join our team in the fall semester for the 2026-2027 academic year. Preference is for students with video/filmmaking/social media (YouTube and Instagram reels) and/or photography skills. 

We are open to considering students without prior experience, but the role requires students who are committed to learning video and photography equipment, and post-production and design programs like the Adobe Suite and Canva, and to using them to market and promote the Hannah Arendt Center’s events and programming.

This is a hybrid learning/work fellowship where students will participate in a training/onboarding session with a film/photography teacher to learn the HAC format and style guide; once completed, students will then be eligible for work assignments, which could range from 1-4 hours per week, depending on the HAC calendar. 

This role is for students looking to expand their commercial photography, videography, post-production, and marketing skills through the creation of vertical videos for social media, photographing and filming our events (which are often held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and our Arendt Forum is October 15-17, 2026), and implementing marketing campaigns. A desire to become more fully engaged with the Center’s mission and programs while gaining valuable, resume-building experience in non-profit communications is required. 

As a HAC Media Fellow, you will:

• Gain hands-on experience in event documentation, from marketing to post production. (ie. The Arendt Forum, Courage to Be dinner lecture series, open houses at the Hannah Arendt Center, talks, the De Gruyter-Arendt Center Lecture in Political Thinking, etc.)
• Elevate your creative skills! Whether you’re a filmmaker or a photographer, this fellowship allows you to hone your skills and build your portfolio.
• Be a student ambassador for the Center, playing a critical role in publicity initiatives for HAC events, including tabling on campus to promote the Center, our events, and especially The Arendt Forum in October.
• Work closely with HAC student Courage to Be fellows, staff, and leadership, reporting to the Communications Manager, in a supportive internship environment. We want to hear your ideas for our communications and marketing, and help you grow, professionally!
• Have unique access to behind the scenes at HAC programs and events, learning important networking and civic engagement skills.

Stemming from the highly influential work of the 20th Century philosopher and political thinker, Hannah Arendt, the Center is a place for bold and risky thinking. By offering a space for respectful disagreement and passionate nonpartisan discourse, the Hannah Arendt Center opens a pathway for building a common ground amongst plural humans and helps individuals (re)discover their agency in the political world.

• A resume (including your skill level with the Adobe Suite, Canva, and/or other design software)
• A cover letter (addressing prior marketing experience and/or your desire to learn, and your knowledge of the Hannah Arendt Center’s activities)
• At least two portfolio links (photography/video/social media)
