The Global BA offers students the opportunity to go beyond the traditional study abroad experience, immersing themselves in multiple cultures and environments while pursuing a integrated liberal arts curriculum with expert faculty at multiple institutions, all while studying with students from across the globe.

About the Program

Global BA students are able to take advantage of the Bard International Network and the Open Society University Network while also fully participating in signature Bard College academic programs including Language and Thinking, Citizen Science, First-Year Seminar, Moderation, and the Senior Project.

Students who complete the GBA program will receive the Global Bachelor of Arts designation on their transcripts.

Eligibility

Students in all majors who meet the requirements to study abroad are eligible to participate in the International BA program.

What Are the Requirements?

An Global BA candidate will learn a minimum of 45-48 credits (three semesters) away from the Bard Annandale campus: two semesters of credit (30-32 credits) through approved in-person international exchange programs and the equivalent of a third semester of credit (15-16 credits), either through virtual or in-person international exchange. This third semester of credit can be earned through additional study away semesters, participation in semester-long or short-term network or OSUN classes, language intensive trips, or other short-term study away programs.

How Do I Earn Credits?

An Global BA candidate can study virtually or in person at member institutions of the Open Society University Network or the Bard International Network, including the Bard Globalization and International Affairs program in New York City. Credits earned outside of these networks may also be used to qualify for the GBA.

    Students interested in the GBA should consult their academic advisers to craft cogent and appropriately challenging programs of study, and they should consult the Bard Study Abroad Adviser to discuss the opportunities for international exchange. In order to receive the GBA designation, students must complete the GBA verification process by contacting [email protected].
