The internship experience is at the center of the New York City semester of the MA in Global Studies program. With the guidance of our program staff, MAGS students are connected to high-profile and substantive internships in New York City.
Internships at MAGS

Internships at MAGS

Our students intern across New York City at a wide range of globally-minded organizations related to their fields of interest. From international policy and business, to global arts and culture initiatives, to climate and education programs and more, the possibilities are endless for our students to gain hands-on experience in the realm of international affairs. Our network of internship partners continues to grow each year, with a variety of public, private, and nonprofit organizations hosting MAGS interns each semester.

*See our sample internship list below for more information.

Securing an Internship

Upon enrollment, students begin working with program staff to identify options, submit applications, and secure an internship position for the spring semester. Students are expected to identify appropriate internship positions, and if they are outside of the Bard internship network, must ensure that they meet the following minimum program requirements:
  • a position related to global/international affairs;
  • scheduled to work through the majority of the spring semester;
  • a commitment of 15–20 hours per week (must reach a minimum of 200 hours throughout the course of the internship
The internship search process involves supporting students through resume formatting, cover letter writing, the interview process, and additional support as needed, though it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to secure a semester-long internship placement before the spring semester begins.

Sample Internship Opportunities

Partner organizations with frequent and/or exclusive MAGS interns are listed in bold. This is not an exhaustive list but a glimpse at where MAGS students have previously interned.
