Bardians Turn Out for Election Day on Campus

The Annandale Campus was a hub of civic pride on Tuesday. Election@Bard's nonpartisan get-out-the-vote efforts throughout election day included early voter vans, ‘dorm-storming’ with peer counselors who delivered election information to residents, and tabling. The day concluded with a DJ party in Kline, featuring CDO's very own Jazcack Gammon ’19, and a Returns Watch Party with Acting President Jonathan Becker. Classes were also held throughout the day, with a special focus on the election, including one held in the president's office, amidst peer-led efforts to help students cast their ballots.
By the end of the day, more than 400 voters had cast their ballot at Bard's Campus Center polling site. The atmosphere was described as festive by Center for Civic Engagement Managing Director Erin Cannan, who also emphasized access to the polls over partisanship and education over divisiveness, such as through the Civic Ambassadors Major on the Ballot initiative. “The Election@Bard team demonstrated remarkable creativity, commitment, and concern for their community,” said Cannan.
