BBC Arts in Motion Covers Lucinda Childs at Summerscape
The Fisher Center at Bard
This past June, Lucinda Childs and her dance company returned to Bard to present Lucinda Childs: Momentary Reprise, as part of SummerScape 2026. The engagement, one of her few in North America last year, was commissioned by Fisher Center LAB and featured five works including the adaptation of a solo that Childs first performed in 1965. A crew from the BBC’s Arts in Motion arts storytelling project was on-hand for that special weekend. The footage they captured is part of a digital short now available online and through television broadcast. The episode combines filming on campus with scenes from Childs’s upstate home, archival material, and commentary from Aaron Mattocks, the Fisher Center’s executive producer and chief operating officer. Childs has a history of collaboration with the Fisher Center and re-mounted her groundbreaking work Dance during the 2009 iteration of Summerscape.
