BHSEC Manhattan Receives $450,000 Grant from Manhattan Borough President’s Office

Bard High School Early College Manhattan, part of Bard’s Early College Network, received a grant of $450,000 to renovate their black box theater from the Manhattan Borough President’s Office. The funding comes from the Office’s $50 million discretionary budget, which this year was devoted entirely to cultural programming. Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal said the initiative provides needed stability to the New York City arts sector. “I know the importance of arts and culture to our society, to the economy and to future generations of Manhattanites and New Yorkers,” he said. Other institutions that will receive funding include the New York Public Library, the Morgan Museum, and the New York Shakespeare Festival.
Bard Early College is a multi-campus network with nine degree-granting campuses established to provide adolescents in American public school systems with the chance to go farther and faster than the status quo allows.
