CCS Hessel Museum’s Betty Parsons Exhibit Reviewed in Art News and the New York Times

An exhibit showcasing the art of Betty Parsons at the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College's Center for Curatorial Studies was reviewed in the New York Times and Art News. The exhibit “Betty Parsons: An Expanded World” is the first major exhibition of Parsons’s work and includes over eighty pieces of her art. A gallerist who exhibited painters including Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, her own work has remained underexamined. The exhibition includes sculptures and paintings from throughout her sixty-year career, as well as two film excerpts explaining Parsons’s life more fully. “Parsons’s story, the Hessel show suggests, is about a curious and independent woman who took a long time to find her voice,” writes the New York Times of the “enlightening and overdue retrospective.”
