"The service on All Saints' day was always more elaborate than any other of the year, and Mr. Bard would invite some prominent clergyman to come here an preach, besides inviting a host of his personal friends here, for the service and preach, after which he would invite his friends, the members of the faculty and the students, to his house (at Blithewood), for a very sumptuous repast, where class distinction was forgotten amid all the merriment of the occasion, speeches ere made by Mr. Bard and his friends and probably the members of the Faculty discoursed upon the growth of the college and upon its future prospects. The students also, the inner man being satisfied, sang the popular songs of the day. We can almost hear some of our readers say "how I wish Mr. Bard were here now to take the use of the chapel on All Saints day!"
