Jewish historian Steven J. Zipperstein joins Bard president Leon Botstein to discuss the life and ambition of Philip Roth, the subject of Zipperstein’s landmark new biography, Philip Roth: Stung By Life. Hailed by Judith Thurman as “a work of literature itself,” the book traces Roth’s journey from Newark childhood to literary stardom, capturing his obsessions, romances, and the extraordinary range of his work from Goodbye, Columbus and Portnoy’s Complaint to American Pastoral and The Plot Against America.For more information, call 845-758-6822.
