Bard College Graduate Molly Anders Wins 2009–2010 Fulbright Award For Study in Jordan

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Molly Anders, a 2009 Bard College graduate from Frankfort, Kentucky, has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student scholarship to Jordan, the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently. Anders, who received a bachelor of arts degree in literature, the Writing Program in Fiction and Poetry, and Middle Eastern studies from Bard College on May 23, plans to study media and democracy in Jordan. She is one of more than 1,500 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2009–2010 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Recipients of Fulbright awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.

Recent Fulbright scholars from Bard College include Gergely A. Lodinsky ’09 (Austria, 2009–10), Mary K. Donovan ’08 (Spain, 2009–10), Siobhan Churchill ’08 (Korea, 2008–09), Abigail Weil ’08 (Russia, 2008–09), Japanese photography critic and independent curator Mariko Takeuchi (Bard College, 2008–09), Jane Wong ’07 (Hong Kong, 2007–08), Bard High School Early College faculty member Mary Ellen Lennon (Burkina Faso, 2007–08), and Taun N. Toay ’05 (Greece, 2005–06).

The Fulbright Program, America’s flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Since its establishment in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J.
