Live Arts Bard Presents:
A Reading by Award-Winning Author Neil Gaiman

Followed By a Concert Performance By Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft Orchestra

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Award-winning author Neil Gaiman will read his new, not-yet-published story on Wednesday, September 5, at 6 p.m. in the Fisher Center’s Sosnoff Theater. The reading is free and open to the public, and seating is on a first come, first served basis.

Gaiman says, “I just finished a new short story - I suppose it’s a way of looking at some fairy tales from a different direction - and wanted to read it to an audience, to find out whether it works. Given that I’m out here writing, while Amanda Palmer rehearses and tries out her new Grand Theft Orchestra touring show, I asked Gideon Lester if I could use their facilities to do a reading, and I was delighted when they said yes.”

Immediately following the reading will be a concert by Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft Orchestra, “Theatre is Evil,” in LUMA Theater of the Fisher Center at 7:30 p.m. Admission for the concert is $35; $20 for the Bard community.

For more information about these events contact the Fisher Center box office at [email protected] or call 845-758-7900.

Neil Gaiman is an internationally acclaimed author of over 20 novels including Stardust, American Gods, Coraline, and The Graveyard Book, as well as the comic books series, The Sandman, and is a prolific creator of works of poetry, film, journalism, comics, song lyrics, and drama. He is the recipient of the Hugo Award, Newbery Medal and Carnegie Medal in Literature, among other prizes, and is listed in the Dictionary of Literary Biography as one of the top ten living post-modern writers. Gaiman has achieved cult status and attracted increased media attention, with recent profiles in The New Yorker magazine and by ‘CBS News Sunday Morning.’ Gaiman was married to Amanda Palmer in 2010.
