Live Arts Bard Presents False Peach With Acclaimed Director Annie Dorsen and Obie-Winning Actor Scott Shepherd, September 13

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Live Arts Bard presents False Peach, a work-in-progress presentation with acclaimed director Annie Dorsen and Obie-winning actor Scott Shepherd on Thursday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m. in LUMA Theater of the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. This event is free and open to the public.

Director Annie Dorsen (Passing Strange on Broadway) and performer Scott Shepherd (of the Wooster Group) are collaborating with an international team of designers and computer programmers to create False Peach, an increasingly elaborate dialogue between man and computer based on Hamlet. Dorsen, Shepherd, and their collaborators will be in residence at Live Arts Bard for three weeks in September.

About Annie Dorsen
Annie Dorsen works in a variety of fields, including theater, film, dance, and, as of 2010, digital performance. Most recently, Hello Hi There premiered at the streirischer herbst festival (Graz), and was presented at Black Box Teatre (Oslo), BIT Teatergarasjen (Bergen), Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), and PS122 (New York). She is the cocreator of the 2008 Broadway musical Passing Strange, which she also directed. Spike Lee has since made a film of her production of the piece, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009, was subsequently screened at South by Southwest Film Festival and The Tribeca Film Festival, and was released theatrically by IFC in 2010 before being broadcast on PBS’s Great Performances. In addition to numerous awards for Passing Strange, Dorsen has received several fellowships, notably the Sir John Gielgud Fellowship from the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. She has taught at New York University and Fordham University, and is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.

About Scott Shepherd
Scott Shepherd is a core member of The Wooster Group, a company of artists who make work for theater, dance, and media. Founded in 1975, it is based in New York City at the Performing Garage at 33 Wooster Street, where the artists develop and perform their work. With The Wooster Group, Shepherd most recently has appeared in Vieux Carré at The Lyceum in Edinburgh, as well as in Strasbourg, Paris, Antwerp, Dijon, and Amsterdam. He also performs with Elevator Repair Service (ERS), a highly acclaimed experimental theater ensemble founded by director John Collins and a group of actors in 1991. In 2010 with ERS, Shepherd played Nick in Gatz at The Public Theater in New York, and many other cities in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Singapore. Shepherd has also worked in film and radio. He is the recipient of many awards including two Obie Awards for Performance, one in 2010 for Gatz and one in 2004 for Poor Theater. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Shepherd was educated at Brown University.
