The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle and the Preparatory Division of The Bard College Conservatory of Music present a Family Concert

All Ages Welcome at Matinee Chamber Music Performance

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle and the Preparatory Division of The Bard College Conservatory of Music present a Family Concert on Saturday, November 10, at 4 p.m. in the Bard Chapel. Admission is free of charge; all donations support the Bard Conservatory Preparatory Division scholarship fund. For more information call 845-339-7907.

Featuring faculty and students from the Preparatory Division of The Bard College Conservatory of Music in a performance to capture the hearts of babes in arms, toddlers, teenagers, and classical music devotees, the one-hour program includes vocals, four-hand piano, and strings. Young people will be invited to sit up front, close to the musicians. Everyone in the audience will be invited to meet the performers and see their instruments.

About the Performers

The mission of the Preparatory Division of The Bard College Conservatory of Music is to offer young people between the ages of one and 18 the joy of studying music in the context of a first-class conservatory. The early study of music brings important benefits to young people, touching many areas of their lives: language, motor and social skills, and an appreciation for the value of diligent effort. Most important, music enriches the young person's life and provides a lifetime of enjoyment.

The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle was founded in 1950 by Helen Huntington Hull with two Staatsburg friends, Mrs. Lydig Hoyt and Mrs. Jonas Borak. The annual concerts have continued to maintain their early reputation for the finest performances of works from wide-ranging repertory. In 2000 the distinguished musicians Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson became the Artistic Directors of the Chamber Music Circle.

The series has been associated with Bard College since 1979. The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle annually gives the Margaret Creal Shafer Award of $1000 each to two outstanding Bard music students. The Circle is also proud to regularly commission work from contemporary composers.
