Bard College Landscape and Arboretum Program and New York Botanical Garden to Offer Continuing Education Classes

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Landscape and Arboretum Program at Bard College and the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) are offering noncredit continuing education classes on gardening at Bard College this fall. Open to the public, these classes feature some of the top names in the horticulture industry and cover a wide array of topics. To register, visit www.nybg.org/adulted/ or call 1-800-322-NYBG. All classes are held in the Gabrielle H. Reem and Herbert J. Kayden Center at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

In addition, on Thursday, September 18, the Landscape and Arboretum Program will continue its monthly Bard Arboretum Walks with the Director series with Arboretum Director Amy Parrella ’99. The walks take place from 1 to 2 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month, September through November. Parrella will lead a leisurely stroll around the campus to explore some of the unique and beautiful trees that make up Bard’s landscape. The walks take place rain or shine, and are free, open to the public, and begin at the Ludlow administration building. For more information, please call 845-758-7179.

FARM-TO-TABLE CENTERPIECE

Saturday, September 20, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Reem-Kayden Center, Rm. 115

The farm-to-table movement has inspired a new sensibility in floral design. All year round, arrangements made with seasonal local botanical elements are redefining beauty—whether through a foraged, wilder aesthetic, or a spare, sylvan elegance. We’ll tell you where to find these seasonal materials locally, and help you work nontraditional elements into a beautiful, memorable centerpiece—with nature as your guide. Materials fee of $50 due at registration.
