The Fisher Center Presents Conservatory Sundays: Conservatory Orchestra, May 18

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College presents The Bard College Conservatory of Music Orchestra on Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m. in the Sosnoff Theater. Conducted by music director Leon Botstein and featuring pianist Peter Serkin, the program includes Bohuslav Martinů’s Memorial to Lidice for orchestra and Thunderbolt; Béla Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in E Major; and Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3. Tickets are $20 and $15, and can be ordered online at fishercenter.bard.edu or by calling the box office at 845-758-7900.

Recognized as an artist of passion and integrity, the distinguished American pianist Peter Serkin is one of the most thoughtful and individualistic musicians appearing before the public today. Throughout his career, he has successfully conveyed the essence of five centuries of repertoire and his performances with symphony orchestras, recital appearances, chamber music collaborations and recordings are respected worldwide.

Serkin currently teaches at Bard College Conservatory of Music and the Longy School of Music of Bard College.
