Celebrated Author Noy Holland to Give Reading at Bard College on February 29
 

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—On Monday, February 29, National Book Award–nominated author Noy Holland will read from her work at Bard College. Holland is the author of Bird, Spectacle of the Body, What Begins with Bird, and Swim for the Little One First.  The New York Times Book Review writes that Holland “habitually challenges the usual limits of language, but the effects of her exuberance are never precious, and often turn suddenly into beauty; her characters portray themselves in a discourse that is startling but genuine, the secret syntax of real lives.” Holland will be introduced by novelist and Bard literature professor Bradford Morrow. The reading, presented as part of Morrow’s Innovative Contemporary Fiction Reading Series, takes place at 2:30 p.m. in Weis Cinema, Bertelsmann Campus Center, and will be followed by a Q&A. The event is free and open to the public; no reservations are required.
 
Noy Holland has published work in Conjunctions, The Quarterly, Kenyon Review, Western Humanities Review, The Believer, NOON, New York Tyrant, and Post Road, among others. She was a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council award for artistic merit and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She serves on the board of directors at Fiction Collective Two. Holland teaches writing in the graduate program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
