KALICHSTEIN-LAREDO-ROBINSON TRIO IS FEATURED PERFORMER FOR THE FIRST CONCERT OF THE HUDSON VALLEY CHAMBER MUSIC CIRCLE'S FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY SEASON AT BARD COLLEGE "There is no finer piano trio than Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson," Chicago Sun Times

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The celebrated Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio opens the fiftieth anniversary season of the Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle (HVCMC) with a performance on Saturday, June 3, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall, Bard College. A preconcert talk and musical demonstration, led by Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson musicians, begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.

The concert will feature performances of Beethoven's Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 11; Brahms's Trio in B Major, Op. 8; and Richard Danielpour's A Child's Reliquary, recently given its world premiere by the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio.

The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, one of the HVCMC's most admired groups, made their debut at the White House for President Carter's inauguration in January 1977. "The ensemble consisting of pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jamie Laredo, and cellist Sharon Robinson stands apart," according to the Chicago Tribune. "There can be few chamber groups whose members are so evenly and expertly matched, who can convey the shear pleasure of making music so spontaneously. Individually and collectively, these musicians are special." The Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio has shared classic works and exciting new repertoire with loyal audiences around the world for over twenty-four consecutive seasons. One of very few chamber music ensembles to retain all of its original members, the Trio balances the careers of three internationally acclaimed soloists, while making annual appearances at many of the world's major concert halls and continuing an active recording agenda.

The HVCMC series continues on Saturday, June 10, as pianist Ursula Oppens joins violinist Rolf Schulte for a program including works by Leoš Janáček, Elliott Carter, and Maurice Ravel. The fiftieth season of the HVCMC concludes on Saturday, June 24, when pianist Blanca Uribe joins the Orion String Quartet for a program including works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Marsalis.

The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle was founded in 1950 when Helen Huntington Hull and two friends from Staatsburg, New York, enlisted the help of violinist Emil Hauser, a member of the Bard College faculty and the original first violinist of the Budapest Quartet, to bring artists to perform concerts in the Mills Mansion in Staatsburg. In 1979 the concert series began its association with Bard College. The HVCMC remains an association of chamber music lovers and is a venue that attracts many of the world's preeminent chamber music artists.

A subscription to the three-concert series is $45; individual tickets $20; senior citizens $15; and students $5. For further information, call 914-338-1172.
