THE BARD COLLEGE PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM'S SPRING 2002 LECTURE SERIES OPENS FEBRUARY 11 WITH RONI HORN

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard College Photography Program will present a talk by Roni Horn on Monday, February 11, the first event of the program's Spring 2002 Lecture Series. The discussion will take place at 8 p.m. in Weis Cinema of the Bertelsmann Campus Center. It is free and open to the public. The lecture series has been made possible by a gift from Louise Field.

In a recent review of the current exhibition of her photographs and sculpture at the Dia Center for the Arts in Manhattan, the New York Times called Horn "one of the foremost artists using photography." For more than 20 years she has built a body of work in a variety of mediums, from photography and sculpture to essays and poetry. Her work has been exhibited widely and was included in such major shows as the Venice Biennale (1997) and Documenta IX (1992). More recently, she has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Jablonka Galerie in Cologne, and the Matthew Marks Gallery in New York.

Horn received a B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and an M.F.A. from Yale University. She teaches at the Columbia University School of the Arts and lives and works in New York City.

The Spring 2002 Lecture Series continues February 20, with a talk by Thomas Demand. Sarah Charlesworth will lecture on March 7 and Laurie Simmons on April 15. All lectures will be held at 8 p.m. in Weis Cinema in the Bertelsmann Campus Center at Bard College. For more information, call 845-758-6822.
