BARD ECONOMICS CLUB PRESENTS A PANEL DISCUSSION ON "RELIGIOUS BELIEF AND ECONOMIC BEHAVIOR" ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-The Bard Economics Club will present a panel discussion on "Religious Belief and Economic Behavior" on Wednesday, March 6, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 102 of the F. W. Olin Humanities Building, Bard College.

The panelists are Dimitri B. Papadimitriou, executive vice president of the College, president of the Levy Economics Institute, executive director of The Bard Center, and Jerome Levy Professor of Economics; Jonathan Brockopp, assistant professor of religion at Bard and the national cochair of the Section for the Study of Islam, American Academy of Religion; the Rev. Dr. Bruce Chilton, Bernard Iddings Bell Professor of Religion, chaplain of the College, and executive director of the Institute of Advanced Theology; and Rabbi Jacob Neusner, Research Professor of Religion and Theology and Bard Center Fellow.

Melissa Mahoney, a Bard student representing members of the Economics Club, will give the introduction to the program and the panelists. Papadimitriou will provide an overview of the economic framework, then each of the panelists-Brockopp, Chilton, and Neusner-will give a presentation on their respective religions, Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Following the presentations by the panelists, a discussion will follow with the audience members.

The Bard Economics Club is made up of students who aim to provide education and resources to promote the understanding of economics through speakers, field trips, and other events each semester.
