MAX BOOT, WALL STREET JOURNAL EDITORIAL FEATURES EDITOR, WILL SPEAK AT BARD COLLEGE ON MONDAY, APRIL 29 Boot's lecture will be drawn from his recent book The Savage Wars of Peace: Small Wars and the Rise of American Power
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-Max Boot, editorial features editor at the Wall Street Journal, will speak about his new book, The Savage Wars of Peace: Small Wars and the Rise of American Power, on Monday, April 29, at Bard College. The presentation, introduced by James Chace, director of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs Program and the Paul W. Williams Professor of Government and Public Law and Administration at Bard, is free and open to the public and will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Bertelsmann Campus Center.
"The Savage Wars of Peace is a groundbreaking book that separates fact from myth on the use of American military power throughout our nation's history," says Richard Holbrooke, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. "Boot's journey through America's small wars mines fascinating and important, yet virtually ignored, territory. The stories he tells are compelling, and could change your views on one of the most important issues facing our nation: the use of military force as a policy instrument."
Boot is a noted military historian. His articles have appeared in Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, The Weekly Standard, Los Angeles Times, and other publications. Boot is also the author of Out of Order: Arrogance, Corruption, and Incompetence on the Bench.
