BUSTER KEATON'S COLLEGE TO BE FEATURED AT A SILENT FILM NIGHT AT BARD ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 Film will be shown with live theater organ accompaniment by Bernie Anderson Jr.
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—One of the silent era's classic film comedies about college life, College with Buster Keaton, will be screened at Bard College on Wednesday, November 13. Just as in 1927, when the film was originally released, there will be live theater organ accompaniment, provided this evening by Bernie Anderson Jr. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Olin Hall. Admission is $5 (free for Bard students).
Jesse Kohl, a first-year student, initiated the Silent Film Night at Bard this year, and hopes that it will become an annual series at the College. Kohl, who always been fascinated by theater pipe organs (the "ultimate Rube Goldberg invention"), became involved with a local live theater organ preservation society at age 11. Desiring to see community members and other students at Bard enjoy the experience of a classic silent film accompanied by the traditional live theater organ, Kohl arranged this evening with the help of Bard's Office Student Activities.

displays silent film star Buster Keaton's physical comedy talents. Keaton plays an idealistic and brainy freshman attending Clayton College. After the coed he admires (played by actress Anne Cornwall) becomes enamored of a handsome athlete, Keaton tries to impress her by engaging in a variety of athletic pursuits including baseball and track.Kohl notes that all proceeds from the evening will benefit the Wurlitzer theater pipe organ restoration fund at Hyde Park's Roosevelt High School.
