THE U.S. AND WORLD ECONOMIES IN THE WAKE OF THE IRAQ WAR TO BE THE TOPIC OF A PANEL DISCUSSION AT BARD COLLEGE ON MAY 7 Discussants Will Include Economists and Scholars from Bard College and The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—On Wednesday, May 7, a panel of economists from Bard College and The Levy Economics Institute of Bard College will explore the state of the U.S. and world economies in the wake of the war in Iraq. The panel discussion is free and open to the public and will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in Weis Cinema in the Bertelsmann Campus Center. The event is being cosponsored by the Office of the Dean of the College and the Dean of International Studies
The panel will explore the state of the domestic and international economies and also discuss the economic and political implications of the war in Iraq, President Bush's tax cut proposals, and other current related issues. The panel includes Dimitri Papadimitriou, executive vice president of Bard College and president of The Levy Economics Institute, who will discuss "The Present State of the U.S. Economy within the Global Economic Landscape." The other panelists are Andrew Pearlman, visiting assistant professor of economics at Bard, who will discuss "The Bush Tax Cuts and the 2004 Presidential Election," and Philip Arestis, professor and senior scholar at The Levy Economics Institute, who will discuss "The Current International Economic Scene."
