BARD MUSIC PROGRAM OFFERS FIVE FREE CONCERTS IN APRIL AND MAY
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Music Program at Bard College will offer five free concerts in April and May. For further information, call 845-758-7250.
On Tuesday, April 27, the Da Capo Chamber Players and the Colorado Quartet will perform an evening of new compositions and orchestrations by Bard composers. The program—coordinated by Patricia Spencer, flutist of Da Capo and visiting associate professor of music at Bard—will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Bard Hall.
On Tuesday, May 4, there will be a performance by the Bard College Electro-Acoustic Ensemble, directed by Brenda Hutchinson, visiting associate professor of music at Bard. This program will begin at 8:00 p.m. in Blum Hall.
On Wednesday, May 5, the Bard College Community Chorus and Chamber Singers, conducted by James Bagwell, assistant professor of music at Bard, will perform the music of Pergolesi, Mozart, as well as Italian and English madrigals. This program will begin at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
On Tuesday, May 11, the Bard College Orchestra, also under Bagwell's direction, will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8. The orchestra will also perform compositions by winners of the Bard Concerto Competition. This program will begin at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall.
On Thursday, May 13, there will be a concert by the Bard College Jazz Ensembles. Performing will be the Bard College Big Band and Percussion Ensembles, both under the direction of Thurman Barker, associate professor of music at Bard, and the Guitar Ensemble, directed by Peter Einhorn. This program will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the Bertelsmann Campus Center.
