AWARD-WINNING NOVELIST RICHARD POWERS WILL SPEAK AT BARD ON APRIL 25 “America’s greatest living novelist”—Boston Review

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— On Monday, April 25, Bard College will host award-winning novelist Richard Powers, author of Three Farmers on Their Way to a Dance, The Gold Bug Variations, Galatea 2.2, Gain, Plowing The Dark, The Time of Our Singing, and other books. He will be introduced by novelist and Bard literature Professor Bradford Morrow. The reading, which is being presented as part of Morrow’s innovative course on contemporary fiction, is free and open to the public and takes place at 2:30 p.m. in the Bertelsmann Campus Center’s Weis Cinema. The San Francisco Chronicle notes that “Powers may be America’s most ambitious novelist.” Richard Powers, a nationally recognized author, writes about science, technology, and social transformation. The professor of English and Swanlund Chair at the University of Illinois has received numerous awards for his fiction, and Time magazine named his book The Gold Bug Variations the best novel of 1991. Powers is a fellow at the University’s Center for Advanced Studies and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
