THE THIRD ANNUAL BARD COLLEGE RAPTORS CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD ON JUNE 5 AT CARVEL COUNTRY CLUB Tournament to benefit Bard College Basketball Program

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The third annual Raptors Classic Golf Tournament will be presented by the Bard Athletic Department to benefit the Men’s Basketball Program at the Carvel Country Club on Sunday, June 5. The shotgun start is at 11:00 a.m. Hole-in-one prizes valued at $100,000, include a 2005 Subaru Outback, courtesy of Colonial Subaru-Suzuki; choice of a Yamaha golf cart, ATV, or Waverunner; a complete set of Ben Hogan irons; a $500 gift certificate for golf apparel (FIDRA by John Ashworth); and, courtesy of JetBlue Airways and DC Sports, $50,000 in cash and four different 5-day/4-night golf vacation packages for two with round trip airfare on JetBlue Airways. Multiple winners are encouraged and mulligans are available on all trips. However, no professionals please. The 2004 champions were Joel Cook, Darrial Kouhout, Anthony Pararea, and John Scharscho. Individual participants will receive: 18 holes of golf, including the golf cart; dinner, and awards reception; Warrior Custom Golf 60-degree lob wedge; three wedges (52, 56, and 60 degree); and the new hybrid/rescue wood (modest shipping and handling fees apply), among many others. A single-player package is $110; two-player package, $190; and four-player package, $360. Various levels of sponsorship are available: the gold package, for $440, includes four golfers, hole signage on the course, awards dinner recognition, and acknowledgment in the game-day program. The silver package, for $275, includes two golfers and the benefits above. The bronze package, for $100, does not include any golfers, but does include hole signage on the course, awards dinner recognition, and acknowledgment in the game-day program. The Carvel Country Club is located just north of the Route 199/Red Hook–Pine Plains exit on the Taconic Parkway at the intersection of Ferris Lane. Chris Wood, the head men’s basketball coach at Bard, says, “Fundraising is an integral component of any NCAA Division III athletic program, and the Raptors Classic is a fun and exciting way to support athletics at Bard.” In the past, funds raised have been used for midwinter break trips involving competition with nonregional opponents and additional items that assist Bard student athletes in their pursuit of athletic excellence.
