Bard Theater Presents Oklahoma! at the Fisher Center in March March 8-10, 2007

Bard Theater Presents Oklahoma! at the Fisher Center in March

BARD THEATER PRESENTS RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN'S OKLAHOMA! AT THE FISHER CENTER IN MARCH
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.-OKLAHOMA! the first musical creation of Rodgers and Hammerstein, is scheduled to be performed at Bard in LUMA Theater of the Richard B. Fisher Center at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10. In addition there are 2:00 p.m. matinee performances on Saturday, March 10, and Sunday, March 11; and a 7:00 p.m. evening performance on Sunday, March 11. Tickets for all performances are $15. Advance reservations are suggested as seating is limited; call 845-758-7900. The Bard Theater production of OKLAHOMA! is directed by Daniel Fish, whose True Love was hailed as the "directorial effort of the year" by the New York Times. The Bard performances of OKLAHOMA! bring the audience into a back-porch dinner theater, complete with hot chili, cowboys, and a hillbilly band. (Note: Adult content may make this production inappropriate for children under 13.) Awarded a special Pulitzer Prize, OKLAHOMA! changed the genre of stage musicals by integrating the story into the music, lyrics, and dance of the play. Set in the American West at the turn of the 20th century, during the time of an historic conflict between farmers and cattlemen, OKLAHOMA! contains some of the most loved tunes of Broadway, including "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" "The Surrey with the Fringe on Top," "People Will Say We're in Love," "Many a New Day," "I Cain't Say No," and, of course, "Oklahoma." The Bard cast includes Ian Turner as Curly McLain, Patrick Stewart as Jud Fry, Lacy Post as Laurey Williams, Emma DeCorsey as Dream Laurey, Dana Steinhoff as Ado Annie Carnes, Max Forman-Mullin as Will Parker, Adam Goldman as Ali Hakim, Chris Aldrich as Andrew Carnes, Nicol Auld as Gertie Cummings, Sarah Mercer as Aunt Eller Murphy, and De Kole as Vivienne, the Fortune Teller, and Dream Cheerleader. The artistic team includes George Gilmore and C. P. Roth, musical directors; Peter Pucci, choreographer; Susanna Gellert, associate director; John Conklin, scenic design; Kaye Voyce, costumes; Scott Zielinski, lighting. For further information and reservations, call 845-758-7900. # Daniel Fishs recent credits include Clifford Odets Rocket to the Moon (Bard SummerScape and Long Wharf Theater); The Merchant of Venice (California Shakespeare Theater); Hamlet (McCarter Theatre); the world premiere of Poor Beck by Joanna Laurens (Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford and London); and the Off-Broadway productions of True Love by Charles Mee (Zipper Theatre) and Ghosts with Amy Irving (CSC). Other credits include the world premiere of The Black Monk by David Rabe (Yale Rep); The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl (Wilma Theatre); Loot, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Learned Ladies (McCarter Theatre); Twelfth Night and The Merry Wives of Windsor (Shakespeare Theatre,Washington, D.C.); and Measure for Measure and Cymbeline (California Shakespeare Theatre). He has directed productions at Center Stage, Court Theatre, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Intiman Theatre, and The Juilliard School. Daniel Fish has worked as associate director to Sir Peter Hall and Michael Kahn and is a graduate of Northwestern Universitys Department of Performance Studies. He is a lecturer in directing at the Yale School of Drama. # # # (02.21.07)
