Bard Music Program Offers Five Concerts in May

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Music Program at Bard College will offer five concerts in May. For further information, call 845-758-7250 (except as noted below). On Monday, May 7, in Bard Hall at 7:30 p.m., the Da Capo Chamber Players and the Colorado Quartet perform a selection of new compositions and orchestrations by Bard students. This program is coordinated by Bard professors Blair McMillen and Patricia Spencer. Also on Monday, May 7, at 9:00 p.m. in Blum Hall, the Music Program presents a performance by the Bard College Electro-Acoustic Ensemble, directed by Marina Rosenfeld. The Bard College Jazz Big Band and the Jazz Vocal Ensemble present a concert on Monday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. in room N211 of Blum Hall. Bard professor Thurman Barker coordinates the program, with Pamela Pentony directing the ensemble. On Wednesday, May 16, at 8:00 p.m. in Sosnoff Theater of the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts, the Bard College Symphonic Chorus and Chamber Singers, directed by Bard professor James Bagwell, perform Handel’s Dixit Dominus and The Ways of Zion Do Mourn. Admission is $5 (free for Bard students and children 12 and under). For further information, call the Fisher Center Box Office at 845-758-7900. On Friday, May 18, at 8:00 p.m. in Olin Hall, the Bard College Orchestra, conducted by Nathan Madsen, perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto, No. 3; Vivaldi’s “Spring” from the Four Seasons; and Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 in A Major. Seating for all concerts is on a first-come, first-served basis. # # # (4/25/07)
