Students Document Nearly 500 Examples of Biodiversity on Bard Campus

On Saturday, September 19, Bard students set out into the meadows and woods of the Annandale-on-Hudson campus to seek out and document as many forms of life as they could find. Participants in the “BioBlitz”, which was co-sponsored by the Biology Program, Center for Civic Engagement, and Bard Field Station, made 1,430 observations in roughly four hours, documenting their findings in the popular iNaturalist app. Their observations comprised a total of 488 species, including fungi, plants, insects, spiders, amphibians, birds, and mammals.
