Bard High School Early College II
School Philosophy
Bard High School Early College II (BHSEC
II) in Queens will follow an established premise, that high-school-aged
students are young adults whose ambition to learn must be taken
seriously. Love of learning dominates the culture. Our rigorous
curriculum allows students to fulfill all of the regents' requirements
through an engaging and demanding college level education. Mastery of
subjects at BHSEC is demonstrated not by standardized test scores, but
by reasoned analysis and making thoughtful and well-supported cases for
ones' views; it leads to the acquisition of both a NYS high school
regents' diploma and a Bard College associate's degree, tuition free.
Our partnership with the New York Academy of Sciences provides additional curricular and extra-curricular opportunities in the sciences.
Student Body
- BHSEC II is open to all NYC students.
- The average student-to-teacher ratio is 20:1.

- We seek students with intellectual curiosity who are excited about learning.
- Admission is based on academic record (generally 85% or above GPA), attendance, a writing and math assessment, and an interview.
