Undergraduate Double Degree Program

Undergraduate Double Degree Program All Conservatory undergraduates pursue a five-year program leading to two degrees: the bachelor of music degree and the bachelor of arts degree in a field other than music. The innovative curriculum of The Bard College Conservatory of Music is guided by the principle that musicians should be broadly educated in the liberal arts and sciences in order to achieve their greatest potential.

Performance Opportunities

Bard Conservatory offers unparalleled musical opportunities for its students. For example, concerto competition winners perform twice in subscription concerts with the American Symphony Orchestra; students frequently perform alongside faculty in chamber music concerts at Bard and in regional chamber music concert series; and students perform as part of concerts of the Bard Music Festival. ...MORE >

Supportive Community

Because all Conservatory students pursue the double degree, there exists a supportive community that equally serves the musical and academic goals of young musicians and provides the high level of training essential to success. Each Conservatory student has two academic advisers, one from the Conservatory and one from a field that the student is considering as a major for the B.A. degree.

Well-Rounded Education

The pursuit of the two degrees at Bard is thoroughly integrated. Conservatory students live, eat, and attend most classes with non-Conservatory students, and are fully a part of the academic and social life of the College.
