Study Abroad/Study Away
Bard-Sponsored Programs
Bard’s most innovative international collaborations are located in regions undergoing rapid political and economic transformations, such as Russia, Eastern and Central Europe, and southern Africa. These programs are conducted in partnership with leading foreign universities and colleges, and students have full access to the host institution’s faculty, academic programs, student body, and social and cultural life. Most of the programs are overseen by the Institute for International Liberal Education.
Bard’s study abroad programs place an emphasis on integration. Other U.S. colleges often offer study abroad programs in which students live and learn surrounded by other Americans abroad; students in Bard’s programs live and study with students enrolled at the host university and are immersed in the host country’s environment. These programs offer an education in which politics, economics, culture, and all aspects of daily life are a vital, immediate part of the learning experience. Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
