MAT Program in upstate NY: Main Campus

Students who complete the entire program on the main Bard campus engage in the same course of study but carry out the field experience and apprenticeship cycles in local public schools. The Chatham, Kingston, Onteora, and Red Hook school districts are our public school partners and have been associated with the MAT Program since its inception in 2004. All are located within thirty miles of the Bard campus and each district has a distinctive structure and emphasis that reflects the community it serves. Similar to the New York City campus, mentors actively engage in forms of professional development that invite them to reflect on their own practices, engaging in forms of inquiry and learning directed at questions we share as an educational community. The benefits of Hudson Valley life and ready access to the Bard College's main campus are unique dimensions of the upstate program.
