Bard has received funding from the NYSDEC Hudson River Estuary Program to do a trails study near the Saw Kill Creek. The College is seeking comments from the public over the summer. We want to hear your questions, concerns, and suggestions about the Tivoli South Bay Trail!
For your saftey and the safety of others please follow these rules of the trails:
Stay on marked paths and trails.
Check maps and trail guides, and bring a map.
Select trails appropriate for your level of physical fitness.
Check the weather and dress appropriately for hiking.
Do not hike alone, and always let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be back. Carry ID.
Keep your dog leashed at all times.
Respect historic artifacts and sites.
Leave no trace. Carry out everything that you carried in.
Only operate motorized vehicles (ATVs, etc.) on paved surfaces.
Launch boats only from marked ramps. No motorized boats are allowed in Tiovli Bays.
Do not bring firearms or other weapons onto Bard College property, they are prohibited.
Take precautions when hiking outside of Bard College property during hunting season, wear blaze orange in areas where hunting is permitted. More information may be found at: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/hunting.html
Tick Warning Ticks found in this area may cause Lyme Disease and other Tick-borne Diseases. To avoid tick bites heed the following advise:
Consider using insect repellents; follow label directions.
Stay on trails, avoid high grass and brush.
Check for ticks on yourself, children, and pets, after being outdoors.
If you are bitten:
Carefully remove attached ticks, fine point tweezers work best.
