Tina Escaja is a Spanish-born, U.S.-based poet, digital artist, and University Distinguished Professor of Romance Languages at the University of Vermont. Widely regarded as a pioneer of Spanish-language electronic literature, she is internationally recognized for her work at the intersection of poetry, electronic literature, performance, and technology. Her creative practice includes digital and multimedia poetry, augmented-reality projects, and Robopoem@s, a series of poem-robots.11:30 am EST/GMT-5
Escaja will introduce us to her trajectory as a cyberpoet, including work created under the persona Alm@ Pérez, to explore how literature moves between digital and material forms. We will consider electronic literature not simply as writing displayed on a screen, but as an embodied, performative, and technological practice, and discuss how changing media reshape authorship, poetic language, and the boundaries of the literary.
Open to the Bard community. For further information about the event and to RSVP for the Zoom link, please contact Professor Patricia López-Gay at [email protected]. Sponsored by Spanish Studies, LAIS, and Experimental Humanities.
