US Policy in Asia Pacific: A Conversation with Susan Thornton

BGIA Chace Talk, cohosted by the National Committee on American Foreign Policy
Thursday, October 5, 2023
BGIA (NYC)
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm EDT/GMT-4
Join us for a conversation that looks at US policy in the Asia Pacific region with seasoned diplomat Susan Thornton at BGIA in midtown Manhattan.

With 60 percent of the world’s population and 40 percent of its GDP, the 21st century has been heralded as the Asian Century. Starting with Barack Obama, America’s leaders have shifted the country’s focus towards India and China, particularly the latter. Join us for a conversation that looks at U.S. policy in the Asia Pacific region with seasoned diplomat Susan Thornton. Ms. Thornton spent three decades at the U.S. State Department, most recently as the Acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. She is currently a Senior Fellow at Yale Law School Paul Tsai China Center and the director of the Forum on Asia-Pacific Security at the National Committee on American Foreign Policy.
