By selecting a 4+1 pathway, Bard economics graduates have the opportunity to continue their education with a distinctive Master of Arts in Economic Theory and Policy offered by Bard's internationally renowned Levy Economics Institute.

What is a 4+1 Program?

Bard's 4+1 program is designed to offer Bard undergraduates a path to a master's degree. By selecting a 4+1 pathway, students benefit from combining graduate faculty, advising, and study into the senior year of their undergraduate experience, allowing the completion of both a bachelor’s and master’s degree program within five years.

Application Requirements

Prospective applicants are encouraged to prepare for the MA by taking economics or statistics courses before the start of the program, or to demonstrate the required level of knowledge through other means, such as research or work experience. The MA provides preparation for students intending to pursue a doctoral program in economics. Bard 4+1 applicants must complete an application (log in with your Bard ID).
