Bard Junior Min Kyung Shinn Wins Katherine Lynn Mester Memorial Scholarship

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—Min Kyung Shinn ’14 is the 2012 recipient of the Katherine Lynn Mester Memorial Scholarship at Bard College in New York. The Katherine Lynn Mester Scholarship was created by the generous donations of Bard faculty and staff and by Katherine’s family to honor her memory. Mester, a native of central Michigan, was a professional actress, Pilates teacher, and the wife of Joseph Luzzi, Bard College associate professor of Italian studies. The scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit Katherine Mester’s spirit of generosity, kindness and genuine love of learning.

This is the fifth year the Mester scholarship has been awarded to a Bard College undergraduate student. Min Kyung Shinn, a native of South Korea who came to the United States seven years ago, is now in her third year at Bard College studying physics and chemistry. Shinn is an international student who came to Bard as the recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Scholarship.
