Three exhibitions by women abstract artists on view at the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies were profiled in Forbes. The Hessel museum’s summer exhibitions by Betty Parsons, Marilou Schultz, and Uman opened last month and were part of Upstate Art Weekend. The exhibitions feature weavings, paintings, and murals from across the artists’ lives and practice. They showcase artists “pushing the possibilities of abstraction and color,” writes Chadd Scott for Forbes.
The Center for Curatorial Studies is an incubator for experimentation in exhibition-making and the leading institution dedicated exclusively to curatorial studies. The Hessel Museum of Art, built in 2006, presents experimental group exhibitions and monographic shows and also draws from the Marieluise Hessel Collection of Contemporary Art for exhibitions.
