The Bard College Conservatory of Music Presents "Conservatory Sundays: Chamber Music"

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Bard College Conservatory of Music and the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts present a chamber music concert on Sunday, March 14, at 3 p.m. in the Sosnoff Theater. The suggested ticket prices for “Conservatory Sundays: Chamber Music” are $20, $15, and $5; proceeds from the program benefit the Scholarship Fund of The Bard College Conservatory of Music. The concert opens with a work geared especially for young audiences, a special performance of Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, featuring Leon Botstein reading Ogden Nash’s humorous verses about elephants, swans, tortoises, and more. The program also includes Beethoven’s String Trio, Op. 9, No. 1.; Giovanni Gabrieli’s “From Sacrae Symphonie”; and Schubert’s Quintet for Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double Bass in A Major (“Trout”), D. 667. The concert will be performed by faculty of the Conservatory and its preparatory division, and by Conservatory students.  Performers include Melvin Chen, piano; Ida Kavafian, violin; Erica Kiesewetter, violin; John Rojak, trombone; Steven Tenenbom, violin; and Peter Wiley, cello.

Suggested donations for this benefit performance are $20 (orchestra seating), $15 (parterre/first balcony), and the minimum donation for orchestra seating: $5. Seating location for tickets reserved without a donation will be assigned by the Box Office.

The mission of The Bard College Conservatory of Music is to provide the best possible preparation for a person dedicated to a life immersed in the creation and performance of music. Now completing its fourth year, the conservatory features a unique double degree program in which all undergraduate conservatory students receive a bachelor of music and a bachelor of arts in another field. In addition, the conservatory offers graduate programs in vocal arts, led by renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw, and in orchestral and choral conducting, led by Harold Farberman, as well as a Post-Graduate Collaborative Piano Fellowship, directed by Frank Corliss.
