Coordinating Events with Cosponsoring Programs

The interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of Bard's campus culture ensures many events that are cosponsored by multiple programs and offices. Please avoid posting multiple versions of the same event to the Bard event tool or the Bard app. This can create uncertainty about an event. Rather, identify a program that will "own" the event in the Bard calendars and app. The event owner will be on point to receive updates and details from cosponsors and ensure that this single version of the event appears on all the correct program calendars. This creates a single source of truth about event details. The event owner should be the office hosting the event and doing the majority of the work promoting the event. In cases where a cosponsoring office wants to create their own version of an event for the purpose of sending an individual eblast from the Bard event tool, please mark that event as "not public" and don't select any calendars; also create a custom subject line so that the event will not sync by subject to the Bard app.

Managing Bard Events and Announcements

  • Log in to Submit an Event
A Bard event is a scheduled campus happening that has a date, time, and location. Events are intended to appear on a calendar (i.e., lecture, meeting, due date, athletic game). Be sure that you have cleared your event’s location with Space Management before submitting it to the website. Once approved, your event will appear on the campus event calendar page, and on other Bard calendars as appropriate. These listings will also automatically be included in the Daily Mail.

    Submit an Event
  • Submit an Announcement
A Bard announcement is a reminder, alert, or request you would like to send to the Bard community. Announcements don’t necessarily have times, dates, or locations (like Bard events) but represent a piece of information you would like to pass along (i.e., request for submissions, sign-up for a club, lost/found item, help needed). Announcements will be included in the Daily Mail on the day(s) you have assigned to your announcement.

  • Events Tool Login
If you manage events for a program or division at Bard, you may have access to Bard’s event tool. This is a Web-based program that allows website managers to add their events to Bard calendars.
