Health ParaprofessionalWant to help an amazing young man have his voice heard? Bard High School Early College Queens is hiring a paraprofessional to work with one of our top students.
The successful applicant will provide significant assistance in communicating academic ideas and physically assisting a non-verbal student at Bard High School Early College Queens. This will require transferring in and out of wheel chair approximately 25 times during the day to facilitate communication, physically supporting student during communication, preparation for use of a stander, and toileting (approximately every 2 hours) and diaper change while standing. As such, applicant must be able lift 100 pounds easily. There must also be a general interest and facility with the academic material as the successful applicant will be facilitating communication of the ideas of the student to the classes in all subjects. Excellent organization skills are required to help both with the medical needs and academic needs (like pulling assignments from Google classroom and uploading Google document assignments). This position is to support for a very engaged student who relies entirely on this support to be an active participant in class discussions.
