Summer Program Faculty Positions - Bard DNA (Diversity Network Action)

Project Summary
Bard High School Early College Queens is committed to increasing high school graduation and postsecondary degree completion rates for historically underrepresented and/or economically disadvantaged students.  We are hosting a summer program for our incoming students to support their transition from NYC middle schools to our program.  The program will promote growth in social and emotional connections to BHSEC Queens, provide training in self-advocacy, and develop familiarity with academic routines that will be important in the year ahead. 

BHSEC Queens is seeking faculty members to teach in our Bard DNA summer program.  The faculty members will teach a three-week course in their area of expertise and will work closely with our Bard DNA Director and our Bard DNA peer mentors to provide consistency across the courses and workshops on the study skills and public speaking skills students are developing.  There will be an organizational day on Monday July 2nd and the program will run from July 9 – July 27. We will be hiring faculty members in math, science, humanities, physical education and/or the arts.  There are both full-time (8 hours/day) and part-time (4 hours/day) opportunities available.  Competitive salary is commensurate with experience and ranges from $3600 - $4000 for the full time positions and $1800 - $2000 for the part time positions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop an academic curriculum for the three-week program that builds academic skills and reinforces important concepts important for success in 9th grade.
  • Attend the Friday celebration activities and group trips
Preference is given to Candidates with the Following Qualifications
  • Teaching in the Bard High School Early College Network
  • Prior experience developing leadership skill with students
