Student Resources Group
Old Gym, phone: 7144 Email: [email protected] The Student Resources Group (SRG) is a student-run organization that offers a variety of services to the Bard community. It organizes job-specific service groups and provides students with an opportunity to take an active role in the safety of our campus community. The SRG offers training opportunities and state certifications to its members free of charge. Because of the nature of many of the service groups, most of the work available to students takes place outside the normal nine-to-five workday. Interested students must attend the information sessions offered at the beginning of each semester in order to pick up an application for employment. All services are offered to Bard students free of charge and can be reached by calling Security at 845-758-7460 or the Safe Ride direct number 845-758-7144. SRG service initiatives: Emergency Driver Students that receive the New York State Safe Driver Certification are eligible to become on-call emergency drivers for the College. Emergency drivers are responsible for providing transportation to Northern Dutchess Hospital or other local medical facilities should a student have a medical emergency and is unable to drive him or herself or has no alternative transportation. The emergency driver service is not available for all types of medical emergencies, during severe weather or other hazardous driving circumstances. Ambulance service is available on a 24-hour basis from local providers if needed. Safe Ride Students that receive the New York State Safe Driver Certification are eligible to become drivers for the Safe Ride Program. Offered on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights throughout the semester, this program seeks to ensure that students are able to return to campus safely from an off campus location. A driver and a navigator will be on-call from the hours of midnight to 3:00 a.m. to pick up students at any address within the village of Red Hook and Tivoli and return them to campus. Night Rides offers students after-dark transportation escorts from and to locations on campus. Student Supports Team (Behavioral Interventions) Dean of Student Affairs Office, Sottery Hall 845-758-7454 [email protected]
Bard College is concerned about the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to providing an environment where individuals are free to work, learn and teach, unencumbered and uninhibited by threats of intimidation or harm. To this end, the College has established a Student Supports Team. This team is responsible for assessing reports of troubling behavior on the part of students and implementing interventions that are in the best interest of the College and the individual.
This team coordinates Bard College’s resources to address the needs of students who are experiencing significant behavioral disturbances in order to recommend collaborative and purposeful interventions aimed at helping students achieve success. This process is also designed to provide members of the College community who have concerns regarding students' behavior with an easily-accessible avenue to report these concerns. Following a referral or information submission, the team will, when appropriate, identify treatment and/or referral recommendation options to the student, toward the ultimate goal of student health, safety, success, and retention.
Conduct Referrals and Administrative Committees
Students may be referred to The Peer Review Board (for smaller infractions), The Student Judiciary Board (for larger or repeated infractions). These boards are outlined in the Student Government Committees section of this Handbook. Student conduct issues may also be referred to an Administrative Committee, taking into account factors such as timeliness, neutrality, and student/faculty privacy. Administrative Committees generally consist of 3 administrators who will meet with relevant parties and review information. The Administrative Committee will then implement sanctions, as appropriate and outlined in this handbook. Interim and additional measures may be taken by the Vice President for Student Affairs or designee.
In cases of emergency, community members should contact Safety and Security immediately by calling 845-758-7777.
In non-emergency situations, community members can use the Incident Reporting Form to report any incident on campus.
