The Bard Arboretum employs Bard undergraduate students every semester and over the summer. To apply, please contact Amy Parrella, Arboretum Director at 845-758-7179 or email [email protected].

Student Opportunities

  • Summer Internship
    Every summer the Landscape and Arboretum at Bard employs a Bard undergraduate student for a 10- to 12-week internship. The selected intern will receive a hands-on training opportunity in professional horticulture and curatorial work. It may include tasks such as conducting tree evaluations, assessing plant bloom, installing arboretum tree identification labels, data entry, GIS mapping, and much more To apply, send a cover letter, a resume, and a one-page essay on how you will benefit from this internship, and the names and contact information for three references.

  • Student Employment
    During the academic year, the Arboretum offers several positions for work-study and non-work study undergraduates. It involves working directly with Bard’s historic landscape and its growing collection of trees and shrubs. Tasks may include: weeding, edging, planting, mulching, pruning, tree work, snow removal, and much more.
