Housekeeper - Montgomery Place (Part-time)

Bard College Seeks a Housekeeper for the Montgomery Place Mansion and associated buildings. This is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 15 hours per week. Under the joint supervision of the Collections Manager and Historic House Manager, the Housekeeper performs a variety of tasks to maintain and care for the rooms of the mansion and the Butler South Building. Training in historic housekeeping will be provided. The Housekeeper will complete any work assigned by the College in a manner to include, but not be limited, to the following:
 
Mansion House
  • Vacuum and dust main floor each work day, with occasional mopping.
  • Vacuum and dust second and third floors as needed.
  • Keep entry areas clean.
  • Monitor fans and dehumidifiers, reporting water, mold, or pest issues.
  • Clean north and west porches and related furniture.
  • Clean bathroom as needed, maintain bathroom supplies.
  • Empty trash each work day.
  • Assist with Special Projects, tours, and event preparations.
  • Deep cleaning annually (typically during winter months) of first-floor rooms.
  • Clean mansion shutters annually.
  • Wash windows annually.
  • Emergency cleanup and housekeeping, as needed.
  • Notify supervisors when cleaning supplies or equipment needs to be reordered.
Butler South and Coach House
  • Dusts, mops and vacuums main storage area weekly; clean corridor weekly.
  • Deep cleaning of book collection annually.
  • Emergency cleanup and housekeeping, as needed.
Other
  • Reports building deficiencies, water damage, mold, pests, and unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Works in a safe and professional manner.
  • Maintains a good attitude and works well with all College departments.
Qualifications
  • Physical ability and willingness to perform related work assigned.
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent, higher education preferred.
  • Responsible, organized, and highly detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform manual labor requiring complete mobility, including extensive bending, stretching, kneeling, and climbing stairs and ladders, as well as carrying light to
  • heavy weight objects.
  • Excellent dexterity skills, ability to handle a wide variety of artworks, and capability to
  • manipulate both heavy and fragile objects.
