Bard NYC Admission Coordinator

Bard NYC is accepting applications for Admission Coordinator of the Bard NYC study away program. The Bard NYC Admission Coordinator is a key member of Bard NYC’s Recruitment and Marketing Team, working with interested students from first contact through application and admission to the program. The position includes extensive travel to colleges and universities across the United States during the fall and spring recruitment seasons. This is a full-time exempt position. 

Position Overview:
The Admission Coordinator is a key point of contact for students across the US and around the globe interested in the Bard NYC program. They are charged with driving student enrollment through one-on-one outreach and contact, via in-person visits to institutions, info calls, email and social media correspondence. This includes extensive travel to US institutions during the 8-10 week fall and spring recruitment seasons, with 15-20 institutions visited each campaign. The Admission Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing travel, including coordinating with host institutions, planning flights, hotels and rental cars and reconciling related expenses. The Admission Coordinator is tasked with representing Bard NYC at college fairs, tabling at informational events, speaking to classes, and liaising with various stakeholders at Bard College and other US institutions, including faculty members and study away and career services offices. They work closely with other team members to build and maintain relationships with US colleges and universities, and grow interest in the program, including through social media and the program’s website, and participate in all other aspects of recruitment and marketing of Bard NYC. In addition to recruitment work during and leading up to each campaign, the Admission Coordinator is a core member of Bard NYC’s small dedicated team, working with colleagues on various aspects of program delivery and student experience, including orientation and program events. The Admission Coordinator is a main point of contact with program alumni and the program’s alumni association, helping to build direct ties between program recruitment and program alumni. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and enhance a dynamic experience for students.

Essential Duties:
  • Travel to partner institutions across the US to promote the Bard NYC program;
  • Nurturing interest in the program through one-on-one outreach and follow up with interested students;
  • Working along with other team members to build and maintain relationships with US partner institutions, including with study away, career development and dean’s offices, academic programs and departments, and individual faculty members;
  • Engagement with the marketing and recruitment team on all aspects of each recruitment campaign (fall and spring);
  • Regular visits to the Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY for student recruitment, including class visits and tabling;
  • Collaboration on the production and development of promotional materials for Bard NYC social media channels and assisting with oversight of social media channels;
  • Collaboration on creation of content for and oversight of the Bard NYC website;
  • Participation in the general operations of the Bard NYC program, working closely with other team members on various aspects of student experience including orientation, program events, and assisting participants adapt to New York City
  • Coordinated work with program alumni and the program’s alumni association. 
Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a liberal arts institution/program;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to retain a large amount of information in detail and clearly, simply and concisely relay that information to interested parties;
  • Work experience in an office setting; experience in higher education preferred;
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing;
  • Ability to establish a set of tasks and activities associated with an intended outcome and timeline and see them through to completion;
  • Experience with social media, including content creation;
  • Experience with domestic or international study away/experiential learning programs is highly preferred. BGIA and Bard NYC alumni are encouraged to apply;
  • Must be available to travel for extended periods of time, have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving rental cars;
  • Strong working knowledge of New York City is preferred.
About Bard NYC:
Bard NYC is an undergraduate experiential learning study-away program in New York City, which pairs academic study with pre-professional internships. Both semester and summer programs are offered. A semester combines 12-16 credits from a selection of unique interdisciplinary courses, including a core-seminar, with an internship of 20-25 hours per week. The experience is accompanied by co- and extra-curricular programming to help students explore career paths and build professional networks, as well as cultural and social programming to introduce students to New York City. The program builds off of the success of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs program, which welcomed students from around the world for more than twenty years. Expanded academic and internship offerings allow students from a wide array of majors and career interests the opportunity to participate. Bard NYC is an enterprising intersection of academics and applied practices, engaging the interests of Bard’s students and their peers from other U.S. and global institutions. Academic rigor, creative and critical thinking, and commitment to fostering a community that supports diversity and accessibility is at the heart of all programs associated with Bard College, and the Admission Coordinator will excel at working with and advocating for the diverse student body enrolled in the program.
