Laboratory Technician and Instrument Specialist
Employer Website: http://apply.interfolio.com/106359The Physics Program at Bard College seeks builders, fixers and machinists for a full-time position within the Physics department, which includes a small electronics and machine shop.
The Laboratory Technician and Instrument Specialist maintains machinery throughout the Physics lab and guides students through building projects. The person in this role has a background in building, electronics and/or machining and uses creativity and technical skills to complete repairs around the shop and to build (and help students build) from scratch.
The primary responsibility of the Technician is coordinating a variety of undergraduate Physics teaching laboratories and supporting faculty and students with ongoing research projects. The position will also involve work on long-term projects organizing and building up resources in our Program’s maker space, electronics workshop, and machine shop. This is an in person, full-time, 12-month per year exempt position.

Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to collaborate closely with faculty, students, and staff to further the educational and research missions of the College
- Experience in machining or electronics and/or research experience in engineering or science fields
