Employer Website: http://apply.interfolio.com/104692The Associate Director of Admission supports the work of the Office of Admission throughout the admission cycle by bringing energy, organization, thoughtfulness, an understanding of current higher education trends, and creative ideas to the recruitment, reading, committee, conversion, and enrollment seasons. The Associate Director of Admission also manages projects assigned by the Director of Admission in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues in Admission and other campus and Bard Network offices as needed to create a welcoming environment for campus visitors.
- Assist in providing guests with information about Bard College and the application process during information sessions and Q&As on campus, at school visits, and at college fairs.
- Practice holistic application reading.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with faculty, staff and campus stakeholders that aid the Office of Admission in recruitment efforts such as Financial Services, Student Services, Community Partnerships, and Alumni/ae Affairs and Development.
- Stay abreast of trends in higher education and principles of enrollment management and offer suggestions to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement the Admission Office’s strategic plan, leveraging data as well as internal feedback from the Admission Team.
- Recruitment Region management typically includes 8-10 weeks of travel to assigned regions in the Fall and 2-4 weeks of travel in the Spring. Travel includes school and community-based organization (CBO) visits, college fairs, special events, and individual meetings with counselors, students and families, occasionally in collaboration with faculty and/or alumni/ae.
- Use your experience, Slate CRM tools, and the support of the Slate Team to inform the most effective recruitment trips in your regions.
- Manage professional communications with school and CBO counselors, and prospective students and families from your assigned recruitment regions.
- Host interviews with applicants on campus when in the office, while on the road during travel season, and remotely via Zoom or other appropriate form of remote conferencing.
- Follow up with personalized communication when appropriate.
- Support the planning and implementation of special admission events and activities including but not limited to, Fall Open House, the Immediate Decision Plan Program, Admitted Students Day, and other prospective or admitted student events throughout the admission cycle.
- Coordinate all events in assigned regions considering strategic plans discussed with the Senior Leadership Team, event budgets, feedback from students and their families, notes from colleagues, and appropriate data.
- Keep informed of counseling trends in assigned regions by staying connected to professional associations, such as regional Associations for College Admission Counselor (ACACs), and representing Bard at professional conferences when appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Office of Development and Alumni/ae Affairs when necessary to increase connectivity between the College, prospective students and alumni/ae.
- Assist the Director of Admission and Senior Leadership Team with other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications and the Communications Team to develop messaging and instructions for prospective and admitted students, and specifically for students in your assigned region.
- When appropriate, work to connect students with colleagues across campus to make sure they receive accurate and detailed information about the Bard experience.
- Practice impeccable customer service in all communications with students and families.
- Participate in team communication campaigns, including but not limited to phonathons, and personalized mailings.
- In collaboration with the full Admission Team, continue to hone presentation skills for information sessions, high school visits and college fairs.
- Stay informed of new programs and updates at the College and adjust messaging accordingly. Create and manage in-person and virtual events in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and, in particular, the Director of Admission and the Director of Communications.
- Read files pertaining to your regions, and assist with other counselor regions as needed.
- Make annual updates to Slate records for the organizations in your assigned region to ensure accurate communication.
- Monitor travel spending and event costs to assist with year on year analysis of the cost of recruitment and travel to specific regions.
- Organize, complete and submit corporate card reconciliation and travel reimbursements with appropriate proof and documentation
- Bachelor’s degree or higher At least 5 years of work experience in Higher Education, preferably as an Assistant Director of Admission or higher Management experience
- Ease in using and learning technology for communication, record keeping, and management of data Experience in working in Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite Programs Knowledge of Technolutions Slate
- Impeccable writing, communication, and time management skills
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
- Impeccable organization
- Travel experience Ability to organize trips, buy tickets, make hotel reservations, and coordinate travel plans
- Self-motivated with ability to function independently
- Ability to work irregular hours and travel on occasional nights and weekends
- Ability to lift packages and boxes of brochures for travel
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
