Bard College at Simon's Rock

Academic Affairs Assistant 

The Office of Academic Affairs at Bard College and Bard Academy at Simon’s Rock is seeking to fill the position of Academic Affairs Assistant. Reporting directly to the Dean of Faculty and Curricular Development, the Academic Affairs Assistant supports the Dean of Faculty and Curricular Development in coordinating a wide range of academic and faculty processes and provides general office management of the Academic Affairs Office. In addition, the Academic Affairs Assistant supports the Dean of Studies Office and several special programs of Bard College and Bard Academy at Simon’s Rock.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the administration of the faculty hiring process and orientation of new faculty
  • Works closely with the Business Office to ensure all faculty appointment and documentation letters are prepared
  • Provide administrative support to annual cycles for faculty evaluations and sabbaticals
  • General office management of the Academic Affairs Office, including providing walk-in, email, and phone support to students, faculty/staff, and others
  • Coordinate academic course book orders with the campus bookstore
  • Assist with organizing campus-wide events including Arrival Day, Writing & Thinking/Orientation, Family Weekend, and Commencement
  • Support the Dean of Studies Office
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical training and experience directly related to job requirements
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Appreciation for and understanding of the mission of Bard College at Simon’s Rock and Bard Academy
This position is a full-time hourly position with benefits. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. COVID-19 vaccination with booster(s) or approved exemption is required as a condition of employment at Simon’s Rock.
